After the dedication ceremony, the ODA Dive & Boat Crew took the LegaSea out for her first-ever marine debris removal expedition.
The short video below chronicles the LegaSea's first outing which was very successful as the crew hauled out five ghost lobster traps and released 40 live lobsters. Thirty of the lobsters came from one particular trap; the crustaceans entered the abandoned trap because they were attracted to a dead sand bass fish that found its way into the trap. If the trap had not been removed, it would have captured and killed many more. It was a great day for ODA, the oceans, and the wildlife!
Thank you to one of ODA's most dedicated, long-time volunteers Walter Marti for making this celebratory video.
