After receiving a MS in Fluid Dynamics from UC Irvine I started a career as a designer of surgical instruments and implants. My design firm is located within two miles of the ocean. I live with my wife Kerry (met during a dive trip) and son Kellin (a promising underwater enthusiast) in the hills of Ventura looking over the ocean each day.
I was introduced to the world under our ocean's surface by Kurt Lieber almost 20 years ago. It was on these numerous dives where he educated me not only on the obvious wonders but the subtle attributes of this beautiful world. There would be times when we would focus a whole dive on the life attached to a single rock. It was these experiences that led me to appreciate the bountiful life that is so close to us. We have also seen where the proximity of people to the ocean has been detrimental to this fragile ecosystem. It is because of this that organizations such as ODA are so important to the ocean's well-being and why I support this group.
